The SWAG-Team, namely Gayle Davis, created with the program
SwagComp.exe a possibility of creating compressed SWG-files.
Unfortunately this program kills the most flags saved by older
versions of Parchi. For this reason I had to change the internally
used format for this flags. This version of Parchi will cooperate
with SwagComp, but it will not recognize the old format.
For converting the flag format this package includes the tool
Change.exe. If you have used it in all your SWAG-directories, you
won't need it any more and you should delete it.
WARNING: Change.exe overwrites the SWG-files directly, that means if
there goes something wrong with your computer or the voltage
crashes, data my be lost! For this reason I strongly recommend
you to make a backup of all *.SWG files prior using Change.exe!
The use of Change.exe is easy: Copy it in your SWAG path and start it.
There is no risk running this program multiple times, but there is also
no sense in doing this.
If you did use Parchi never before, you won't need to use Change.exe.
I repeat the right order of doing things:
1. Backup *.swg
2. Run Change.exe (one time only)
3. Run SwagComp.exe (one time only)
4. Run Parchi.exe (as many times you want ;-)
Beside the workaround of some minor ;-) bugs, there is only one big new
ability in this version of Parchi: Now it can handle compressed SWG-files
too. The format is the same SWAG-reader version 2.9 uses.
This format will change again in Dezember this year. Parchi will handle
the next format too, if I get the information about it and if I receive
enough postcards, which show me that there are people interested in
it. (See the manual, if you don't know what I mean.)
For the extensive description of Options | Packer, see the manual.
